You’ve most likely seen a Joe Rush sculpture before and not known it: perhaps it was the “rocket ship” Usain Bolt rode through Olympic Stadium at the 2012 Paralympics Closing Ceremony, or the giant mechanical Phoenix atop the 2013 Glastonbury Festival’s Pyramid Stage which burst into flames during The Rolling Stones live performance of Sympathy For The Devil. But While the Iron is Hot is Joe’s first ever gallery exhibition, and features sculptures specifically made for display at home, and to appeal across the generations for decades to come. All of Joe’s sculptures are upcycled using tremendous skill and flair from mechanical and household junk. Steam along to While the Iron is Hot to appreciate the work of this alternative national treasure.

The opening party takes place on Thursday evening, 16th January, from 6pm–9pm in the The Outsiders gallery at 77 Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3DE.
